Do you agree that consumers bought too many things, especially the unnecessary stuff? Do you think
advertising should be blamed for making people buy too many supposedly unnecessary things, or
should consumers blame themselves since after all they are the ones making the buying decisions?
– I highly agree that consumers buy too many things, ESPECIALLY the unnecessary stuff. I believe
that advertising and the consumers are to blame for buying too many unnecessary things. A
consumer’s behavior is influenced by many things: environment, marketing factors, the
situation, personal and psychological factors, family, culture, subculture, and so on. Different
companies/businesses target people by discovering and using trends to influence people to buy
their product/service. Consumers are drawn in by many different factors such as the layout of a
store, music, grouping and availability of products, pricing and advertising. Successful,
advertising has led to many unnecessary purchases due to trends and making a want seem like a
need, but at the same time consumers are to blame because people have their own will power;
the companies/businesses are not forcing people to buy their service or product.
