Three main points I have learned during this week revolved around environmental and visual
supports in the influence and benefits in the Autism spectrum disorder community. I learned that
it is very important to understand how to use and identify the environmental factors in multiple
settings may impact those in the ASD community. Children with autism also benefit significantly
from having various support methods in their environment. These types support methods are
visual aids and schedules as well as proactive actions to keep then the environment supportive. I
found it important to understand that those with autism disorders are sensitive to lights, sounds
and decoration and environmental factors can distract them and make their learning experience
more difficult. I also think it is important to understand that teachers can use specific types of
handles on doors to increase safety in a room to help children with ASD because a lot of children
on the spectrum typically more prone to running out of classrooms which hinders their
educational journey. I also learned how important it is to make sure all realms of a child’s
educational system are matching at home and at school because children on the spectrum rely on
