Digital Marketing & SEO perform two different functions, yet many
consider them to be the same. Search Engine Optimization or SEO , is an
important part of digital marketing. It’s a focused approach to attract
customers to any business via the internet. In other words, this is
marketing in the 21st Century. SEO uses different tools to achieve the
marketing goal set by the company.
Digital Marketing
When people say marketing, they think of newspapers, paper billboards or door-to-door
advertisement. Digital marketing uses social media, radio, television or any other
communication technology to for marketing. While internet might be the primary source
of digital marketing, other examples may include text messaging, mobile apps,
electronic billboards, instant messaging, podcasts. The reason digital marketing is so
different is because analysts can determine if their marketing techniques are working or
not based on real time information. Marketers can easily monitor like what is attracting
the customers, how long and how often. Digital marketing is used to improve
company’s overall visibility to the public using electronic media.
Ads have been around for more than half a
century and they are more than likely to stick around. However, targeting the audience
has changed a lot since it first started. Radio for example, there are 147.8 million people
who listen to radio on regular basis. In 2016, CBS charged $5 million for 30-second of
advertisement during the Superbowl. If you have ever been to Times Sqaure in New
York, you know that there are TV’s and electronic LEDs all around the streets. This is an
example of modern day digital marketing.
Digital Marketing is so wide spread that consumers see it everywhere and sometimes
don’t even realize it. On top of that, consumers have access to what others say about
your brand or product. Amazon.com is one of the largest online shopping retailers and
you can go on their to read reviews submitted by actual people who have used that very
specific product. Consumers will believe others customers who bought the product
rather believing the company of that product itself.
Marketing is not just knowing your customer, its knowing them better than your
competitors so you can find out when, where and how your message is the most
