Nutrition 150: Dietary Analysis Assignment Points: 30
Objectives:
1) To assess your average caloric and nutrient intake and compare to estimated calorie requirements.
2) To assess adequacy of intake in terms of macro and micronutrients and its implications in terms of
deficiencies and chronic disease risk.
3) Use the above information to determine changes in your diet to reduce your risk of chronic disease and/or
nutritional deficiencies.
Use the website, https://www.choosemyplate.gov/SuperTracker/default.aspx or another online diet analysis
program if it can provided detailed dietary analysis. My Fitness Pal is very popular and I like it, but it only tracks
a limited number of micronutrients and will not be appropriate for this assignment. Please let me know if you
will be using another website and/or program for this assignment. I recommend you use Supertracker because
it is non-commercial and does not require you to give personal information such as an email address.
1. Keep track of all food and beverages (except water) consumed for five days. Include two weekend
days and three weekdays. I have attached a sample food log for you to use or you may use whatever
works best for you.
2. The final products will be:
1. Printed reports from SuperTracker: 1) Food Groups and Calories; 2) Nutrients Report.
2. A detailed discussion (in essay format) of your intake comparing it to the (1) Food Groups
and Calorie Report; and (2) the Nutrients Report. This should be presented in detail. Please see
the required format in the following pages.
You will submit the two reports and your discussion in Word, PDF, or RTF format.
3. Your written comparison should be at least 3 pages, typed, double-spaced, with no larger than 1-inch
