In the article “Eating dog meat in China might only be an annual affair, but why
does such sick tradition continue?”, Luisa Tam, the author called this Chinese festival “an
inhumane culinary rituals” since she saw a dog slaughtered alive in the kitchen, she said in
her article that “it’s just some sick pleasure these people get from seeing animals suffer.”
Dog eating has been a controversial topic for so long, especially nowadays when the
concepts like “rights” or “freedoms” came involved. However, not many people changed
their original minds about pets eating, still, as Luisa Tam mentioned in her article, they
slaughtered over 11,000 dogs during Yulin Dog Meat Festival in China last year. She
claimed that in many Asian cultures, some people even believe that eating or boiling
