– Lifespan development is the study that examines patterns of growth, change, and stability in
behavior that occurs throughout the entire lifespan.
2. What are some basic influences on human development?
– Some basic influences on human development are culture, race, ethnic differences, age, life
events, and socioeconomics.
3. What are the key influences in the field of development?
– Some key influences in the field of development are continuous/ discontinuous change,
critical/ sensitive periods, lifespan approach/ focus on particular periods, and nature (genetic
factors)/nurture (environmental factors)
4. Describe what correlational research and the relationship to cause and effect?
– Correlational research uses naturalistic observation, case studies and survey research to
investigate whether certain characteristics of interest are associated with other characteristics.
Correlation studies lead to no direct conclusions about cause and effect.
