Executive Summary
The purpose of this assignment is to evaluate the strengths and weaknesses of assessment
centre and its ability to assist assessors and candidates to understand the importance of the
assessment centre and to utilise it with appropriate ways of investigation in and after the
assessment. Additionally, group work has discussed and evaluated of the performance and
outcome of the works done. Furthermore, suggestion of better ideas has been generated in
order to increase the accuracy and usage of assessment centre.
Introduction
According to ACAS (2008), assessment centre’s activities and tests have to satisfy the
requirement of the need to suit to different type of job characteristic. For instance, Client
Services Manager job application candidates ought to request for presentation and team
building in order to examine and evaluate their ability and skill of communication as well
as confidence in making a speech. Boyatzis (1982) mentioned that competency is the best
element for interviewers to select candidates for company’s growth and sustainability.
According to Fletcher (2002), competence can be defined as the ability to perform so that
the performance of company can be increased. Thus, human resource has to be well
selected and trained in order to increase performance of whole organisation so that they
can out-do competitors notably in perfect competition market.
How well your group performed in relation to the standard literature evaluations of
strengths/ limitations of assessment centres
My group members have complied with all the requirements that have been set out
by the assessment centres. Group members have been cooperated with each other in
creating the most suitable logo that will best represent the business image. Everyone
in the group strive to provide the best ideas within the 20 minutes although it might
be not easy to come out with outstanding ideas within the given time. However,
having said that, the importance of communication skill and the ability to accept
ideas given by others should not be overlooked in the assessment centres as it is
crucial for the group members to achieve main purpose of creating a logo that
well-represented the business.
Strength and limitations of assessment centres
Strengths of assessment centre included promotion and selection of candidates, assist
candidate to discover their strengths and weaknesses so that the candidates will be able to
improve their interview skills and performance (Byham, 2000).
