Step 1: Inquiry Approaches to Teaching
Demonstration Guidelines
Prior to teaching your first lesson, you and your partner(s) will demonstrate a portion of your
lesson to the class. Your lesson demonstration will cover the engage, explore and explain
sections of your lesson. You will teach the class as if we were your elementary school students
in your mentor’s classroom.
This assignment is worth 10% of your grade. The Lesson Demonstration Rubric details how you
will be graded.
Prior to demonstration week:
Below is a list of items for you to review so that you are prepared for your upcoming
teaching demonstration. Remember that a successful lesson demonstration is required in order
for you to be allowed to teach in your mentor’s class. Be prepared, even if your partner(s) is
not.
