Demand for Residential Housing
The housing market is a secure investment made up of property and the land on which it rests, and
while it is immovable, it is subject to supply and demand like other assets. This means that, like
stocks and bonds, housing prices are significantly influenced by the law of supply and demand.
When there is more demand, prices tend to rise, when there is more supply, prices tend to decline.
The law of economics is a fundamental economic principle that describes how supply and demand
interact to impact the price of a commodity or service.
The housing market, like all markets, is strongly reliant on supply and demand, which is why it is
such a closely watched indicator. Of course, each home transaction involves a buyer and a seller.
The buyer makes an offer to purchase a property, which the seller must accept or reject.
