The Declaration of Independence was established in order to give us
freedom. The Preamble talks about self-evident truths, rights, equality, the pursuit
of happiness, and the right of revolution. All of these things relate to what the
United States is built on today. And this is why we live in a nation so great!
One of the main purposes of the Declaration of Independence was declaring
the 13 British colonies independent on July 4th, 1776. This had a huge impact on
what would become the United States. From 1763 to 1776 the British forcefully
tried to make the Americans contribute to war efforts. Despite their efforts the
Americans rejected. Following the war of Independence, the colonists all said that
they were now independent and not having to contribute to the British. This also
included all ties to the British government. The united colonies wanted freedom. In
doing this, the united colonies were given more ability to act for themselves,
including the ability to start a war and also make alliances with other countries.,
among other things. In relation to today, people have the right to join the military,
we all pay taxes that definitely contributes to war efforts, and we have alliances with
other nations.
The next purpose was that men would have secured rights; these were to
include the rights to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. Governments were
put in place to maintain checks and balances. If the government became to
unfavorable, the men and women of the colonies had the right to overthrow the
