I took the Decision-Making Style Test and I am a Systematic/Internal decision maker. I
like to gather all the information, talk to other people, analyze the information and make an
informed, educated decisions. I know I cannot always make the right decision but I have
always felt if I put in enough time prior to making a decision then the odds are more in my
favor that my decision will serve me and those around me well.
I think the path-goal approach would work well for me. I like to analyze situation and
decide the proper steps. The path-goal approach requires that you know your followers
pretty well and because I do analyze people so often I feel I do know my followers very
well. I think I naturally adapt my leadership style to each individual follower as well as
each situation. I like to see things from other’s perspective. I think often times we get
caught in our own little world and forget that other people see and hear things differently
as well as have different experiences which lead to different perspectives. By trying to see
things from other’s perspectives it helps me to see the path they would most benefit from. I
naturally adapt my leadership style to meet my follower’s needs. I know people will not
respond the same to the same leadership style so why would you have the same style for
each. I individually select my leadership style based on my followers needs which is
exactly what the path-goal approach recommends.
