1. For my group’s dependent variable of our correct recall word test research, I will
use a ratio scale to measure the amount of participants with correct responses. The
scoring will range from 0 to 12. An independent sample T-test will be used for the
participants who completed the survey. The participants who did not complete the
survey will receive a 0. I will throw out the responses of the participants who
answered to being colorblind and also throw out the responses of the participants
who did not complete the entire survey.
2. The statistical tests that I will use to analyze my groups data are a ratio scale and
two independent sample t-test in SPSS.
3. Using the ratio scale fits best with my groups data because we have some
participants who did not complete the survey completely so counting the
participants who did not complete the full survey as 0 makes the most sense, since
the 0 in a ratio scale is the complete absence of anything. The scale will range
from 0 to 12. Using two independent sample t-tests fits with my group’s data
because we have a true independent variable (text color) and we are using each
test to measure the amount of incorrect words and the amount of correct words
recalled.
4. I’ll perform an independent samples T-test in SPSS, and I will use the following
method:
1. Choose analyze → compare means → independent-samples t-test
2. Move the target variable to the test variables box
3. Click the define groups button
4. Enter the values corresponding to our two groups that I want to
compare in the boxes labeled black text group and red text group
5. Click the continue button
6. Click the OK button
