Origins of Dance Cultures
The Aborigines have a culture very different than that of Western civilization. The differences
start with their religious beliefs. Aborigines believe in gods found in nature, and this obviously shapes
their culture accordingly. They don’t seem to have such an inclination to formal education, and
reportedly are more prone to alcoholism due to this lack of education. I did find it interesting, however,
that the story of the Aborigines is very similar to that of the Native Americans in the sense that white,
foreign peoples invaded, colonized, and hindered the growth of their population.
In the native American dances, I found the symbolism to be very intriguing. With the delicate
costume-wear and various pieces of jewelry, it’s apparent that these article of clothing have a deeper
