Grimshaw v. Ford Motor Company case
Back in the day in 1972 a Ford Pinto hatchback car in a good shape without any signs of potential
problems stalled on a freeway, turning into flames when it was rear ended by a car going in the
same direction Lilly Gray behind the wheel of the Pinto, suffered fatal burns and the 13 year-old
kid Richard Grimshaw the passenger in the Pinto, got fatal and permanent disfiguring burns all
over his body including his face.
When Ford came out with The Pinto, they knew it was not safe before it even hit the market.
During testing the car, the gas tank ruptured in every case where the vehicle speed is over 25 mph.
