“Daddy” Analysis
“Daddy” is a dark poem written by Sylvia Plath in 1965. In her poem she talks about how
she wants to escape from her father who treated her so horribly. Her father died when she was
only eight years old from diabetes. Even after his death she still tries to escape him, which she
eventually accomplishes. She wrote “Daddy” only four months before she unfortunately
committed suicide. Plath uses metaphors and comparisons to WWII, in “Daddy,” to expresses
