I did my latest current event on an article published by The New York Times titled,
“F.D.A. Delays Rules That Would Have Limited E-Cigarettes on Market” by Sheila Kaplan.
With the F.D.A. deciding to delay regulations on E-cigs, the different brands can now continue
to sell their products in store. If the regulations had gone into effect, the president of the
American Vaping Association states that “over 99 percent of vapor products available on the
market today would be banned next year” which the article says is an exaggeration but a
significant percentage would be affected. The commissioner for the F.D.A. explained that part of
the reason the regulations were delayed because they believe that E-cigs are a safer alternative to
regular cigarettes. Tobacco products contribute to 480,000 deaths a year in the United States, so
