Culture and Ethics
When we look at a map, one of the first things we do is find the key, so we understand what the
different symbols mean. Then we start planning our route to our final destination. This is similar
to how a leader needs to outline the organizations’ strategic vision to their team. Once the
foundation is established, we need to learn about everyone on our team, so we can convey our

message and strategy in a way that is easy to understand, which builds trust and leaders gain
respect.
Organizations have a mission statement to explain what their purpose is and what they are trying
to do. Values are defined to provide direction as to how the goals of the organization will be
achieved. The vision is your message, it is important to convey several compelling messages that
communicate the vision. A leader needs to understand the mission and values of the organization
so they can communicate what that means to their team and how each team member is expected
to contribute With a shared goal and interest in the success of the organization, defining how
individuals can contribute through their actions and as a team they can bring the vision to life.
