Culture and Diversity Project
The definition of the word culture can be very complex because of the many
different meanings that it can have for each separate individual. One can associate
culture solely on one thing such as religion. Perhaps it’s not one thing but multiple
things such as upbringing, personal beliefs, native language or cuisine. Personally, a
big part of my culture is my religion, Catholicism. Being at any other church severely
places me out of my comfort zone because I don’t agree with most other religions
but of course I’ve always remained respectful to other’s choices.
The majority of the Mexican population is catholic and even though I was not born
in Mexico, my upbringing was in a Mexican household. When I was younger I strictly
went to mass on Sunday’s and didn’t really know any other religion. However, now
