1. The civil war between north and south Sudan started these problem for the lost boys.
Growing up without parents made life harder for the boys because they weren’t there to
guide them and teach them about society and their culture. A huge problem for the lost
boys came in 1991 when communists overthrew the government and forced the young
boys to leave the refugee camp at gunpoint. An issue that the boys faced was when the
crossed the River Gilo where more than half of the original group was wiped out because
they were drowned, were eaten by crocodiles, and also shot. Starvation and dehydration
were also a big cause of the boys loosing more numbers. The kids who were younger and
would become too weak or tired to continue would be picked up and carried by the older
boys. A lot of the boys who became to exhausted to go on would just sit down and died
