Chapter 3: Victims of Assault and Financial Compensation
When a serious crime happens such as an assault, the victim can be out of work for many
months depending on how bad the injuries that were sustained. This means the victim would lose
money because they aren’t working, but in every state a crime victim has programs to help pay
for some out-of-pocket expenses for the victims of crime. Even some of these programs will pay
for counseling for victims of major financial crimes. Every state sets limits on the total amount
