Dear Mom,
I’m sorry couldn’t make it to family day, but you know how the military is. This letter is coming
from me and Hannah, as we both want to take the time to write you a letter about how your alcoholism
and drug addictions have affected me, as well as her and I. We will start first with how you have affected
me. My whole life up until 8th grade, I had never known you to be a drug addict or an alcoholic because
one of my parents had to step up and be the responsible one, and you succeeded at that job, regardless

see us and we had to force you into the hospital because you were so drunk. Not only did it effect my
homelife, it affected my school life because I was skipping and ditching school just to come home and
take care of you. Another thing that I won’t ever forget is doing what I could to talk to Nol to be able to
have you move into her house with me so that we could spend the last part of my senior year together,
but that too was messed up. You barricaded yourself into your room with a knife and were screaming
throughout the house. I got a call from the local sheriffs to try to come talk you down and help you help
yourself, I was just 17 having to take care of myself and you. That Christmas we spent trying to check
