1. Plead Bargain
i) I do think the prosecutor made the correct decision to plea bargain. I think he made
the correct decision because plea bargaining allows the defense attorneys to grow
their efficiency and profits, so they can invest less time on plea-bargained cases.
Judges also benefit when it comes to plea bargaining.
ii) I do not think the prosecutor should seek a referendum on the matter on rather to
determine whether residents are willing to pay additional taxes to try a defendant
rather than accept a plea bargain. I think he should stick to his plea bargain and accept
it. Because once you give that defendant the opportunity to pay additional taxes, they
will not serve any time for their crime and will be able to be set free with no charge
against them.
2. Prison Versus Rehibition
i) I believe that early intervention, education, and prevention programs will be most
effective thing to do nowadays. Nowadays putting people in prison is not helping
society stay out of prison. Most people do illegal stuff so they can be sent back to
prison because they have nowhere to go or because they don’t have anybody. I do
think that having an intervention will give people inspiration to stay out of prisons or
stay away from prisons. I also think giving the education will help them get father in
life as a punishment which can be helpful teens running away or disrespecting their
parents or not wanting to show up to school or skipping. I also think that prevention
programs will help give advice on how to prevent from being sent to prisons.
ii) I think the number one crime problem in my community is guns. Nowadays guns
have killed a lot of young people, old people, innocent people. People nowadays think
shoot guns is fun and that its cool. I think they should require background checks in
order to purchase a gun. I also think they should disarm all domestic abusers.
