Creon, The True Tragic Hero
In Sophocles’ Greek tragedy Antigone, the audience does feel pity, fear, and catharsis
throughout the play. Many argue that the character, Antigone is the tragic hero, but Antigone
does not meet all the necessary characteristics of a tragic hero like the character Creon does.
Creon demonstrates that he is a tragic hero through the fact that he makes the audience feel
catharsis, pity, and fear.
