Court Observation Report
The court I attended was the court # 180, on September 08th 2015 at 9:30 AM at Criminal District
court, located in downtown of Houston. The Judge was Evans, Catherine. It was a murder case
between State of Texas vs Dickey, Mark Allen. The appointed attorney was Wentz, Kurt Budd.
Dickey killed his mother, Brenda Dickey on June 15, 2013. As I entered the court, the trial has
already commenced at nine o’clock so I did not really know how a real trial started. I sat in the
back where the public sits, facing the judge bench. The courtroom was cold and quiet. Everyone
was in suit and tie. There were just a few number of spectators and family members in the court
