Abstract
This paper explores corporate sustainability and the sustainable efforts a business has
undertaken. It also explores the harm it was causing to the society, the benefits noticed to the
society, the cost to the business as well as the benefits added to the business, and the businesses
short term and long term goals. Wal- mart is an example of a business who has made changes to
become sustainable. Environmental sustainability is essential in today’s time when it comes to
having a successful business.

“Corporate sustainability is a business approach that creates long- term shareholder value
by embracing opportunities and managing risks deriving from economic, environmental and
social developments” (Corporate Sustainability, n.d.). Walmart has taken many steps in
becoming more sustainable in the past years. They have set goals as a company and are on their
way to conquering each and every goal. Walmart thinks about the people, their employees and
associates, and the world as a whole. The corporation has taken steps such as reducing waste,
reducing, reusing, recycling, and rethinking.
A goal the business has it to be supplied with one hundred percent of renewable energy.
“We know that renewables combined with energy efficiency is especially powerful: for our
customers, for our shareholders and for the future generations to come” (Walmart, n.d.). Walmart
has envisioned a world where people do not have to choose between energy that is good for the
planet and community and energy they can afford. “Scaling renewable energy while accelerating
