Introduction
This assignment aims to discuss the effect of corporate culture characteristics (internal
consistency, a clear mission, adaptability, and the involvement of employees) on the corporate
results. Despite the ambiguity around the definition of corporate culture, Cooke et al., (1988)
define it as the communal beliefs and values that direct the employees’ thinking and behavior
style in the organization. For the purpose of this assignment, the effect of the four characteristics
of corporate culture on one of the mental health facilities in Oman will be discussed.
Corporate Culture Characteristics
Boyce, Nieminen, Gillespie, & Denison (2015) identify four characteristics found in any
successful organizations. These characteristics are the clear mission, internal consistency,
adaptability, and the involvement of employees. In a study conducted by Dizak (2016) shows a
positive relationship between corporate culture and the corporate results (customer satisfaction
and Sale rate). Boyce, Nieminen, Gillespie, & Denison (2015) found the positive corporate
culture leads to high customers’ satisfaction. Moreover, high customers’ satisfaction leads to high
financial results. Accordingly, positive organization culture comes first then the performance

characteristics on one mental health institution in Oman.

the culture of cooperation within the institution by, for example, reinforcing the teamwork
culture either in helping each other in completing work assignments or even in being fixable to
cover each other shifts. Furthermore, in order to enhance the culture of self-development, MOH
developed a system encouraging the staff to participate in continual professional education
(CPE) programs, as this system is linked to the system of promotions, scholarships, and bonuses.
For example, the staff is require to obtain certain amount of CPE credits points during that year
in order to get bonus.
Another characteristic is adaptability which means the extent to which the firm benefits from
competitor’s experience, and customers’ feedback to develops flexible response (Boyce,
Nieminen, Gillespie, & Denison, 2015). MOH of Oman is interested in taking the customers’
feedback related to the quality of provided care as well as the quality of employees in terms of
communication and skills. Therefore, the MOH has taken many measures to enhance the
