Coronavirus in Polk, Lakeland Hospital preparing for 1000 Covid-19
Patients a day.
Lakeland Regional Hospital in Lakeland Florida is working diligently to make sure they are prepared just
incase Covid-19 Patients hit them hard. They are preparing to have 1000 patients a day. Lakeland has
196 cases and they are saying that the virus is growing exponentially. They had just 34 new cases a day
earlier this week and then jumped to 53 in one day. Which is a 25% increase from the 34 a few days
prior. The hospital is holding 91 suspected cases with 4 confirmed positive in their covid 19 units. There
are currently 33 patients on ventilators with only the 4 confirmed cases. Florida is preparing to have the
worst or peak hit mid-April through early May. Lakeland Regional is running short on supplies. A nurse
who works for the hospital spoke with me about how they are now being given only one mask a week
