Corn its literally everywhere, from the gas you put in your car to the soda your drinking. Corn is
the most grown crops/feed used in America. Corn is one of the most versatile crops in the world let’s say
you’re a rancher (you don’t grow corn). You think corn isn’t important to you then you realize that it
feeds your cattle, chickens, hogs it’s in the soda you drink goes, in the fuel tank of everything you own
except for large farm equipment.
Corn is important due to the fact that without corn it would be drastically harder to feed
livestock, fuel vehicles, a cheap source of sugar and even adhesives. Corn fits in American society in the
Movie Theater and thanksgiving. The origins of corn date back 7,000 years ago in central Mexico. If
those people did not cultivate it and protected it corn as we know it today wouldn’t exist. Companies
like DuPont genetically modified corn to survive in different climates.
America, Iowa to be exact is where corn is primarily produced in the us. 13.7million acres of
corn is produced each year which is by far the produces the most corn in the world. America out
produces china by over 100million metric tons of corn per year. The U.S. is producing more and more
corn per year. I see the U.S. producing more and more corn due to us getting better at optimizing
cropland.
Corn is grown in Illinois, Iowa, Indiana, eastern portions of South Dakota and Nebraska,
western Kentucky and Ohio, and the northern two-thirds of Missouri. Iowa is the state that is producing
the most corn in the country. Iowa produced nearly 30 percent of the United States corn. Corn
production in Oklahoma ranks 27 accounting for 0.28% of the U.S. corn production coming behind Iowa
Nebraska and Illinois.
