!Convergent thinking is like taking the road less travelled; not necessarily the
road others take less, but the road you take less. It combines using logic and creativity.
For example, one activity is to take two random words that do not usually connect
together and write down as many was that they can be connected that you can think
of. Convergent thinking makes you think outside of the box and with no boundaries,
whether you are making up backstories for people walking around the park, or making
up a cartoon life for yourself. “
!I believe exercises like the exercises included in the convergent activities part of
the creativity challenge, help you to open your mind to “alternative” ways of thinking.
Most of the exercises make you think outside of your normal boundaries of thinking,
which makes you think differently to open your possibilities up for new conclusions. “
!Convergent thinking makes you step out of your comfort zone to come up with a
solution to your problem. It makes you think in a different way than you normally would.
It confines your way of doing things to strict rules, but outside the normal rules you set
for yourself. Most people who think convergently are usually good and mathematics,
because it sets certain equations and steps to solve for the correct answer, an
individual might just use a method that most wouldn’t use. “
