My Shopping Experience

I went shopping over spring break to find a dress to wear for graduation. I felt a time
pressure to find one while I was home because I knew my options would be limited when I
went back to Hays. I wanted to find a dress but all the temporal factors that day left me
feeling rather discouraged. The situational factors that affected (ch.2) me were being sick,
my self-image, dresses weren’t fitting right, and my mom didn’t eat lunch because she felt
fat. My mood after that left me feeling sad and therefore my psychological timing was off
because I didn’t want to be shopping anymore.
For me time is a map and I have everything planned out in advance, including that day for
shopping. This shopping experience for me had a negative affect (ch.2) on me. It wasn’t
helpful my emotional state was already unpleasant due to not feeling good putting me in a
poor mood. However, stores I went to and dresses I did try on were simplified by heuristic
cues (ch.2). An example of my heuristic cues was I wanted to go into American Eagle
because it is one of my favorite stores.
Though I didn’t find a dress I engaged in some impulse buying because we were out
shopping for the day and I couldn’t come home empty handed. I found a cute Nike vest
