Hearing the words “Mom when you get home we need to talk” worried me. Eagerly I
came home to my twelve-year-old son Alan and saw this look in his face like here comes
nothing, but I have to speak my truth. Alan has disclosed to me that he is bisexual and confused
all at once. I explain to Alan that at his age he has a fine understanding that he likes something
not from the norm and that is okay. That he is my son and my love and respect for him is much
greater now than what it was by him opening up to me and telling me he is bisexual. Now come
consequences and life lessons that he is not prepared for so he will have to wait for the right time
to do certain things and experiment. He’s only twelve I do not want him jumping through hoops
and ropes when he still has a life time to go. His sexuality is accepted to a certain standard and
my fear as a mother is not being able to protect him.
Alan telling me that he is bisexual did not surprise me. Personally, I was already prepared
