Conflict Resolution and Negotiation
Students in a team are to choose whether to engage in a conflict resolution or a negotiation
with another team and prepare a PowerPoint Presentation to explain their arguments and
point of view.
Conflict Resolution Topics:
– Topic 1: A conflict emerged among the management team of a company because part
of the team wants to restructure the organization to establish a team structure where
employees will only work in teams while the other wants to keep it as is where
employees work individually. So, as a team, which side would you take and why?
– Topic 2: A conflict emerged among the management team of a Lebanese company
because part of the team wants to use the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator to hire new
employees while the other believes that it is a waste of time as it is not always
accurate. So, as a team, which side would you take and why?
Negotiation Topic:
The Case: Cytrix develops integrated bicycle and running performance systems.
Runners and bikers wear the Cytrix watch, which uses GPS signals to identify their
location and the distance they have covered. This information can then be uploaded to
the Cytrix Challenge website, where users record their performance over time. Social
media tools also allow them to compare their performance relative to that of friends.
