1. Computers have an important role. They are used in day to day life for things like email
and personal communications. They are also for professional means. Computers house
records for doctors. They also are a tool for writers who prefer to not write by hand.
2. There are several parts of a computer. Some are impute devices. Some impute devices are
headphones, a mouse, web cams, and keyboards. These are all necessary in order for the
user to impute data and other things into the computer.
3. There are things called output devices. These devices output information from the
computer. For example sound comes from speakers. Images and written word is output
by printers. Monitors are the output devices that allow visual experiences.
4. Another important part of a computer is the CPU or processor. This controls the the
commands going inside your computer. It also houses the memory.
5. There are different types of memory. The first is ram or random access memory. There is
then read only memory or ROM. Finally there is flash memory.
6. Inside the tower resides the motherboard. This allows access to the input, output, and
processing for your computer. The motherboard can include other things like the video
card or a network interface card.
7. A network interface card is important part of the computer. It allows computers to
communicate. They communicate on something called a network.
8. There are external storage devices that can add to your computer’s memory. They also
make it easy to transport data from one computer to another. Some of these devices are
external hard drives, Flash Drives, and CD ROMS.
9. To connect anything whether input or output you will need to use ports. Some of these
ports are called the USB or universal serial bus port or a firewire port for fast digital
devices. There is also a network port for internet connections. The most important ones
are monitor port and power plug port.
10. An important part of using the computer is knowing how to log off, restart, and shut
down. When someone logs off a computer they are restricting access from an account on
a computer. Restart shuts the computer down, but restarts it. Shut down is used to safely
turn off a computer.
