Name two elements in a comprehensive communication plan and explain each.
A comprehensive communication plan identifies the issue to be resolved, the messages to be sent, the
target audiences to be reached, and the tactics to be used. Additionally, there is a timetable for the
project and a list of personnel who are accountable for each task.
Context
After one has determined who their intended audience is, they will need to specify the setting in which
their conversation will take place. Recognize important (past, present, and future) events and
connections for the various audiences they will be speaking to. The world, recent experiences, and
acceptable expectations of your audience are all defined in this context.
Media
The messages one is trying to get across define the medium he should use. There are a wide variety of
options available to him, from one-on-one interaction to mass email, from team conference calls to
town hall gatherings. These media options elicit diverse reactions from audiences, particularly when
taken into account in relation to the message’s context and intended consequences. If one wants to
communicate successfully with their target audience, one need to view the world through their eyes and
imagine the medium that will help you do so.
