Comparison and Contrast: Sandburg and Whitman
Carl Sandburg is a famous writer and editor who was born in Galesburg, Illinois, in
January 6th, 1878. Sandburg had to drop out of school to enroll in odds jobs and help his family
because he was surrounded with financial difficulties. Later on, he was drawn into the Spanish
American war where he met a student who encouraged him to pursue his education by enrolling
in Lombard. Once enrolled, he developed a passion for writing and insisted on his teachers who
believed in him to help him publish his first writings.
