The Differences Between Circe and Calypso
Circe and Calypso appear similar, but they are really very different. Both women keep
Odysseus from returning home to his wife Penelope. They both want to keep Odysseus from
returning home so they will do whatever they can to get him to stay, both not caring about his
wife and son he has back in Ithaca. The two women differ in their dwelling place, their treatment
towards Odysseus after finding out his eagerness to go home, and the longing they have for men
that is showed throughout their actions.
Circe and Calypso are both beautiful goddesses. These women are two of which
Odysseus has an affair with. They both seek for Odysseus to be their husband. Circe and Calypso
share a common frustration; they do not think it is fair that they get punished for sleeping with
