In his speech at ASU in 2009, president Barack Obama emphasizes the significant role of
ethics in life, consequences of ethical failures, and how the class of 2009 can make a change for
ethical failures. According to Steven A. Beebe and Timothy P. Mottet (2013), ethics are the
belief, values, and moral principles by which we determine what is right and wrong. Therefore,
ethics are significantly important that by which we determine our principles in our lives.
However, there were ethical failures of politicians and business leaders that made America and
the world suffer from the depression. Also, they led to the change in generations of American
people’s principles which resulted in the chases for external indicators, material values and
resting in historical values’ laurels. So, a portion of American people lack ambition, hunger for
real success, and motivations for changes to maintain the true values of a super power. In fact,
they are the reasons why the dominant role of the nation has been threatened to be taken over,
