Christopher Columbus extra credit
According to the Book of Mormon, Christ, was the person that brought Christianity to the New World
not Columbus. Gospel truths are more important than historical mythology. Christopher Columbus was
a murderer. He raped, killed, enslaved the indigenous people. Until he died, he did not think that he had
discovered a new place. He never truly found anything. Columbus thought he was in India not the New
World. People say Christopher Columbus was inspired by God to go to America and that it had to
happen. However, if one person does not do God’s will for you, he will send someone else. Christopher
Columbus was not the only person that could discover the new world. Columbus saw the indigenous
people as people to enslave. Columbus began the slave trade in America. We should not be submissive
about Columbus, we need to better explain who he was and his actions to prevent harming faithful
church members.
I need to better understand the history and the way these historical white men viewed the world and
how it is very different from reality. After all it is the white men that write the history and they will never
