Racism

Racism is still used in today’s society, it may not be a visible or blatant as it once was like
when the blacks and whites had separate water fountains, but it has taken other forms. You have
people who discriminate because of skin color, religion, gender and ethnicity. Skin color and
religion are probably the two most discriminated against globally. For example, on the news you
might have heard “black lives matter”, this is a campaign against police brutality in the United
States against African-Americans. This is a huge matter in the African-American community.
There are two types of ways you can discriminate against racism, individual
discrimination and institutional discrimination. Individual discrimination is carried out by one
person against another. Institutional discrimination is carried out systematically by institutions
that affect all members of a group who come into contact with it.
