Based on the ‘management a practical introduction’ book, ethics is defined as the
standards of right and wrong that influence behavior. Those ethical standards are different from
culture to culture and country to country. Each country and culture have ethical behavior
standards that is considered right and wrong to them. Ethics is important to everyone and it is a
requirement for human life. It is our means of deciding a course of action. Without it, our actions
would be random and aimless. There would be no way to work towards a goal, because there
would be no way to pick between a limitless numbers of goals. Even with an ethical standard, we
might not be able to reach our goals to success. Any flaw in our ethics will reduce our ability to
be successful in our endeavors. Ethics in business is one branches of ethics that I will be talking
about in this paper. There are ethical dilemmas that people will face in the work place. An ethical
dilemma is a situation that you have to decide whether to pursue a course of action that might
benefit you or your business that is unethical or illegal. How would you handle a choice between
paying a client under the table so you can win a big contract, what if you have to do something
unethical to keep your job? This world has a large global business and no matter how big or
small the business is, each company have to face ethical issues and dilemmas. I will be
summarizing the most important articles that I have found relating to ethics in the business world
and what I think it’s important about them.
