College Football Players
Football is a new term for me. I am from Colombia and football is a total mystery for
more than half of our population. Since I moved to the States, I have enjoyed seeing the passion
for the sport that everyone has. For Americans, college football is not just a sport, but part of
their culture, just like soccer is part of my culture. The difference between soccer in my country
and football here is the amount of exposure it has in college. Every college in Colombia has a
soccer team but it is not a big deal—just for fun with little to no exposure. Only the national team
and other professional teams get that kind of exposure, so I never had to think about how their
players could be exploited. However, American college football is completely different.
Football programs bring in a huge amount of money for colleges and without their
players that wouldn’t be possible. With this in mind, I believe that they should be paid, but I also
