A is for Armstrong
Neil Armstrong was an American astronaut and the first man to walk on
the moon. Before he was an astronaut he was an officer in the U.S. Navy
and served in the Korean War. His famous quote is “That’s one small step
for man, one giant leap for mankind”.
B is for the Black Panthers
The Black Panther Party or the BPP was a revolutionary black nationalist
and socialist organization that was active in the United States from 1966
until 1982. Their only international group was in Algeria from 1969 until
1972.
C is for Communism
As the Cold War intensified during the 40’s and 50’s people became very
scared with the threat of communism and this became known as the Red
Scare. Many countries became communism such as China, they went
communist in 1949, and Cuba became communist in 1965.
D is for Draft
President Harry S. Truman instituted a military draft with a proclamation
calling 10 million men to register for the military within a two months’ time
span. Truman started doing more and more as the tension between the
United States and the Soviet Union grew.
