Is there truly a difference in the taste of a regular Coke and the taste of Coke Zero? If so
can it be detected by a random group of people and finally which do they prefer. I believe
if a random group of people who actively drink soda daily took a blind test where they
had no idea of what they were trying they would enjoy the taste of regular Coke over the
taste of Coke Zero, because they are more use to the taste of a regular soda. Then if a
group of people who only drink soda on occasion did the same blind test there would be
little to no difference in taste. The results on a preferred taste would be much more down
the middle because there tastes buds are much different due to not drinking soda as often
as the first group. Then finally one control group of people who rarely or never drink
soda will take the blind test. I still believe this group will prefer Coke over Coke Zero but
once again close to down the middle. They will have a hard time determining which is
which because they have little to no knowledge of what soda tastes like.
The groups will be of ten people, five males and five females. Those chosen will all be of
about the same eighteen to twenty-five years of age and close to the same health and
fitness levels. The age range was chose as such because the taste buds have become more
developed at eighteen years old and up. A younger age might be more likely to like a
more sugary and sweet option. Group A or the group of active soda drinkers was chosen
to get a perspective from people who know soda and what the taste is. This group will
give us the most accurate reading on if someone can pick up the taste and determine
which is which because as stated they are use to the taste. Group B or the group that only
occasionally drinks soda was chosen to give a more unbiased opinion on the taste of each
soda. Unlike group A, who constantly drinks soda group B wont be as accustom to what
