Cognitive Behavior Therapy for Suicide Prevention
Suicide an act of taking one’s own life. According to the Center for Disease Control and
Prevention (CDC) in 2016, nearly 45,000 Americans age 10 or older died by suicide. Suicide is
the 10th leading cause of death and is one of just three leading causes that are on the rise. A
person who is having an ideation of suicide must report the fact he or she is having suicidal
thoughts, there isn’t a magical way to detect what one is thinking. There are certain hints to when
one is depressed and might be suicidal, but many cases are just not within hindsight. However
for patients who have attempted to suicide or have had the ideation can seek help and go through
different therapy approach and recover for a better life. One must be willing to take the necessary
steps or at least be open minded to the process of recovery. To understand the patient one must
understand his or her behavior and the motivation behind it. What triggers an individual to have
