In the last century, there was an increase about 0.6 degrees in the average temperature.
According to the UN group on climate change, the average temperature will rise by
between 1.4 and 5.8 degrees C by the 2100. (Black., para.A) Climate, which is the average
weather like seasonal extremes, variation, is in control of earth’s energy and its
atmosphere, is actually caused by both human activities and natural events. Obviously, it
can affect ecosystems, the agricultural, and the spread of disease. (Black, para. C) With the
effects climate change, it finally results in global warming and green house effects. This
essay will discuss the causes and effects of climate change, then it will suggest solutions to
to solve this problem.
According to the International Panel on Climate Change (IPPC), climate change was
caused by human activities significantly, and these can even cause irreversible effects to
earth. (Hamburg, 2009, p.186-187) For example, burning of fossil fuels like coal, oil,
natural gas impacts on natural climate significantly because of the huge needs of
transportation, heating, manufacturing, cooling, electricity generations. (Ibid., p.190) The
production of carbon dioxide have increased rapidly and around 80 to 85% carbon dioxide
has been produced. (Ibid., p.190) In addition, land use changes is also a problem. The
purpose of clear-cutting is always for logging, ranching, and agriculture. (Ibid., p.190)
Substantially, deforestation and other land use changes have already increased the carbon
dioxide in atmosphere and this still happens in some tropical regions. (Ibid., p.190)
Furthermore, natural events are also factors of climate change. There are some examples
such as large volcanic eruption, variation in ocean currents and so on.(Ibid., p.185)
