Cleveland, Ohio
The mayoral race in Cleveland, Ohio is what you could call a somewhat stacked race, due
to the fact that the current mayor would be running for his fifth term. Although he has not yet
declared, it is highly likely that he will do so, due to the fact that he is the longest-serving mayor
to see Cleveland, Ohio ever. This means that the candidate I have chosen to analyze is the
current mayor, Frank G. Jackson. Jackson aligns with the Democratic party rather than the
Republican one. It also means that Jackson has been mayor since November 8, 2005. He now has
held office for over 15 years, which means he has many qualities that not only make him
relatable, but also make him a candidate others respect and even like. Jackson comes from a
mixed family, meaning his father is African American and his mother is Italian-American. This
already appeals to a larger group of people, as he is a representative of a minority community,
that of mixed-race people. He also served in the military in the Army branch, yet another
admirable trait when it comes to holding any type of political office in the United States of
America, and then went on to graduate with a Law degree, proving he is in fact very well
educated.
Jackson has numerous priorities when it comes to solving social problems in the city of
Cleveland, Ohio. However, the one at the forefront of his mind is also the one at the forefront of
the minds of almost every political leader in this country: dealing with the Coronavirus, handling
the implications and ramifications of such a virus and helping re-build the damaged economy
