Class Location: Class will meet at the LSU Golf Course located off Nicholson Drive on Gourrier Road,
unless otherwise specified by the instructor. (South of Alex Box Baseball stadium across the street). Class
meetings will begin on the open pavement by the driving range.
Course Description: KIN 1125 is an introductory course on golf with a focus on the
fundamentals of putting, chipping, wedge play, iron play and full swing. The class will address rules,
etiquette, form and scoring as well. Upon completion of this course, students will have the knowledge
and capabilities of completing a full round of golf on their own time, with the hopes of incorporating golf
as a means to remain physically active for the lifetime.
Equipment: Students are strongly encouraged to bring their own clubs and bring them to every class.
There are a limited number of clubs available (especially for left handed individuals). Range balls will be
provided for use on the range. All clubs will be required each class period unless specified by the
instructor.
Course Fee: There is a $30 fee payable to the LSU Golf Course (cash or credit card). This fee covers
balls at the driving range (during class time), two rounds of golf at the LSU Golf Course and two range
buckets to be played by the end of the semester. This fee must be paid within 2 weeks to the front desk.
Please keep receipt.
Course Objectives:
1. Students will gain knowledge and be able to apply golf terminology, rules, and etiquette on
written exams.
2. Student will use safety precautions on the practice area; driving range and putting/chipping
greens.
3. Students will demonstrate the basics of the golf swing, pitching, & putting through practice and
play.
Policies & Procedures:
1. Punctuality: Students are expected to arrive on time to each scheduled class period and stay
for the duration of class. Students arriving more than ten (10) minutes late will be considered
absent. Class WILL continue during rain or cold temperatures (unless the course is deemed
unplayable, or temperatures reach below freezing). For classes that will not meet in person
due to inclement weather, students are required to complete an online assignment that will be
posted on Moodle for that day.

2. Attire: Students are expected to wear appropriate attire and shoes for golf. (Avoid dresses or
jeans. Also stick to athletic shoes or golf shoes.) The instructor has final decision on a
student’s appropriate or inappropriate attire. Absolutely no open toe shoes.
3. Class Decorum: Electronic devices (cell phones, tablets) are to not be displayed during class.
In order to maintain a clean and professional atmosphere, no eating during class. Bottled
water is acceptable, but will be kept near clubhouse or in golf bag.
4. Accommodations: Please inform the instructor of record if you utilize the Office of
Disability Services and need special accommodations. Notify the instructor of any health
complications/injuries before participating in physical activity. Accommodations and
modifications will be made for all students, in PE everybody plays!
5. Academic Integrity: Plagiarism and cheating on any tests will not be tolerated. LSU policies
regarding academic misconduct can be found online in the Dean of Students: Code of
Conduct. It is the students’ responsibility to be familiar with this policy. Any student
suspected of cheating, plagiarizing or falsifying a course requirement or engaging in any
other act of academic misconduct will be reported to the Dean of Students. Plagiarism and
cheating will be dealt with according to the LSU Student Code of Conduct and the Dean of
Student Affairs Office.
6. Assumption of Risk: As with any activity, there is an assumed risk while participating in this
course. We will do all we can to provide a safe environment; however, you are ultimately
responsible for your well-being. The university and instructor will not be held liable for any
injuries sustained in this class.
7. Class Attendance: PS 22: Class attendance is the responsibility of the student. The student
