A Class Divided
The experiment is conducted by a woman named Jane Elliot. She is also a third-
grade teacher that teaches in Riceville, Iowa. She began this experiment after the assassination of
Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. She starts by asking what brotherhood is. She answers treat everyone
as though they are your brother. She then asks if there is anyone in the united states that we do
not treat as our brothers. The kids answer Black people and the Indians. The kids then say that
when people see those people, they say ew, they’re so stupid, look at that those dumb
people. They have obviously heard people around them say these things be their family or people
around them.
I think that this experiment was trying to show us that humans are impressionable
