A major Civil Rights issue currently affecting today’s society is the motion for transgender
equality in our country’s military. American leaders have put a ban on the right for transgender personnel
to openly serve in the military. This human right targets every individual who identifies themselves
differently from their gender at the time of birth. “Our military must be focused on decisive and
overwhelming victory and cannot be burdened with the tremendous medical costs and disruption that
transgenders in the military would entail” (President Trump). Famous authors such as, Booker T.
Washington and Susan B. Anthony have philosophies that correlate with the this human right for
transgender equality in our country’s military.
