The city youth under its new governance
NAGA CITY, April 14 – The City of Naga welcomed its newly appointed 45 City Youth O&cials who took
their oath today at the People’s Hall.
On more than 300 applicants for City Youth O&cial, the number was down to 45 and 33 of which were
chosen to be the City Youth Department Heads, 11 as City Youth Councillors and 2 as City Youth Mayor
and Vice Mayor consecu2vely.
The purpose of this City Youth Internship Program is to expose CYOs handling the opera2ons of the city
government except in areas, which are policy determining or requiring monetary disbursements. They
are expected to serve in their respected o&ces for one a half (1 ½) month star2ng this April until May.
“Let’s us help our city, by joining the City Youth Involvement Program” Mayor John Bongat said in his
speech, “It’s your job to see if the City O&cials are doing its job properly and e>ec2vely,” he even added,
“Share your ideas. If you enjoy what you’re doing, you will excel.
In applying for this position, you must comply with these minimum requirements such as 16-24 years
old, at least high school graduate, can fully aBend the o&cial function, have an SK Voter’s ID or a
photocopy of COMELEC registra2on claim stub and any regular bill of parent such as electrical, water or
telephone bill, he or she must have a good moral character issued by the school head or Punong
Barangay and lastly, must not have been a previous CYO.
According to the City Youth Month Rules and regulation, the youth government shall be composed of
youth o&cials who will be selected through a two-phase selection process from a pool of qualiEed
nominees in Naga City. AFer these process, the top 14 of the examina2on shall be proclaimed by the
commiBee as follows, City Youth Mayor, City Youth Vice Mayor and two City Youth Councillors. The
determined top 15 to 45 shall take the position City Youth Department Heads and Chief O&ces
appointed by the City Youth Mayor.
